LEAD PROPULSION ENGINEER

Rob’s role on the team is primarily responsibile for the operational servicability of the pair of Bristol Siddeley Orpheus Mark 803 Gas Turbine Engines which were sourced from the UK and shipped to Australia in 2014.

Rob has serviced and maintained these engines to operational condition.

Rob was one of the original Royal Australian Airforce Apprentices who, in 1978, installed and maintained Ken Warby’s record breaking attempt at Blowering Dam.

Today Rob’s profession is wildly divergent from his engineering days. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer for a Canberra based Software Development company called, Recruitment Systems. Recruitment Systems specialises in developing software specifically for the National and International Recruitment Agencies as well as supporting the Corporate HR Recruitment space.

Rob’s involvement in the current project started when he received an “Out of the blue” telephone call from Cincinnati Ohio.  It was no other, than Ken Warby…!  38 years had passed since Rob had heard that voice, Ken Warby, but it was totally unmistakable. As only Ken could, he used that great ‘Blues Brothers’ line.. “Rob, we’re getting the band back together !”

That phone call lead Rob down an incredible path of nostalgia, one of which reminded him of one of the most exhilarating periods of his life. The shear emotion of being a part of history which still stands to today, 40 years later.

This is the reason he again has become part of this incredible world beating team and why he is again proud to be associated with the Warby Motor Sport team.
